Hair – Man’s Crowning Glory

Hair is a simple protein filament that covers the body of any mammal. However for human beings, hair stands as the primary styling object. And depending on the hair style, the look of an individual can be altered dramatically. Hair also stands as a symbol of health and youth.

For men, hair stands as a prime object of glory. Facial hair marks the transition of a boy to a man. Since ancient times, hair styles have also denoted your association to a certain group, caste, sect or religion. For example Sikhs and Orthodox Jews keep their hair long or never shave their head fully.

Men also face the problem of male pattern baldness which is related to hair. Baldness not only comes with age, it also prematurely ‘ages’ you in appearance. The love for hair is inspiring many men to seek out a cure for their baldness with solutions like hair transplant, hair replacement or laser hair regrowth. In previous epochs of history the loss of hair was also synonymous to punishment in old days where a person’s head would be shaved off to degrade him socially. (more…)
